Legendary former AC Milan player Massimo Ambrosini has admitted that he has liked the look of Arturo Vidal in Inter’s past two matches in which he has played a different role to the one that he is known for.

In last weekend’s Derby della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan and Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage opener at home to Borussia Monchengladbach, Vidal found himself positioned just in front of the defence as opposed to a more attacking role.

In the match against Borussia Monchengladbach, Vidal was at fault for both of the German’s goals but despite this Ambrosini has admitted that he still liked what he seen from Vidal in this new role.

“Why isn’t Vidal the same as he was at Juventus? Inter plays in a different way than Juve,” Ambrosini explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

“I don’t mind Vidal in that role. Apart from the mistakes he did well against Borussia too, in the derby he was one of the best. I like him.”

Vidal joined Inter in the Summer transfer window from La Liga side Barcelona following a very long courtship. The 32-year-old Chilean national team player has made five appearances across all competitions to date this term but is yet to make any goal contributions.
