Former Inter striker Roberto Boninsegna criticised Inter coach Antonio Conte and the Nerazzurri’s current form in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Rai2 on the show ‘Campioni del mondo’ earlier today.

“I’m an Inter fan since birth and Conte makes me angry because he is buying too many players, he is confused in my opinion.

“In defense we don’t have the right substitutes for Godin, so much so that we concede too many goals. With a defense like that I don’t think we can go very far.”

The 76-year-old Italian was not happy with the performance of Serbian veteran Aleksandar Kolarov in the central defender role. The player was signed from Roma this summer transfer window.

“Kolarov is not capable in that role. In any league in the world if you don’t have a strong defense you don’t win anything.”

He then complained about the Nerazzurri’s decision to sell Italian talent Nicolo Zaniolo to Roma. The player joined the Giallorossi in a deal that saw Radja Nainggolan join the Milanese club.

“Only crazy people would sell him for €4 million. It means that there is some problem in the club.”

Finally, Boninsegna suggested that the Milanese club are lacking direction.

“Now Conte has been satisfied in everything but we have to see what the criteria is. In my opinion, Inter lacks a real playmaker.”

Inter’s important 3-0 win over the Rossoblu means that they are now third in the league table after five games, two points behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan, who can extend their lead with a win over Roma on Monday.

The Milanese club’s next game is a Champions League clash with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, who beat Real Madrid last week in the competition.
