Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia spoke about the Nerazzurri’s fundamental 2-0 win over Genoa in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.
“I’m happy because we went back to a win, it was essential to regain morale and certainty. The matches we are playing are very close, it is an intense period.
“There has been great balance, remaining aggressive and allowing few counterattacks. The three points were the most important thing and we collected them.”
The 32-year-old Italian defender touched on how the squad recover energy.
“With the work we do constantly every day. Tomorrow we’ll recover and think about the Champions League match.”
He then commented on his role in coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system.
“All the roles are not easy, every player knows what he has to do every time he takes to the field. I think I have shown that I am concentrated when I enter the field.
“I am happy with the coach’s compliments, they make the daily work worth it.”
Finally, Ranocchia spoke about the difficulty of achieving the team’s goals and how successes cannot be dwelled on for long.
“The goals to be achieved are difficult, there is no point in focusing on individual matches, we are already focused on the next game.”
The 32-year-old Ranocchia, whose contract with the Nerazzurri expires at the end of the season, made his season debut in today’s win over the Rossoblu.
The Italian defender, who has been with Inter since 2011, only made 12 appearances across all competitions last season for the Milanese club, for a total of 887 minutes.
In that time, he scored one goal and helped the side keep six clean sheets.
Inter’s next game is against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday, before facing Parma next weekend.
