Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio discussed the Nerazzurri’s important 2-0 win over Genoa in the Serie A in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia moments ago after the game.

“In the Serie A no game is easy. I agree with the coach, no one has ever dominated us and so far, we have collected less than we’ve deserved.

“Today we dominated for 90 minutes, we did well in not conceding goals and for bringing home three points that do us good.”

The Italian then commented on the importance of teamwork when defending.

“To be able to push up high, you need teamwork on a defensive level. Not conceding goals is important and does not mean playing defensively.”

Finally, D’Ambrosio spoke about the Nerazzurri’s upcoming Champions League group game against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

“Very important game. We have already faced and beaten Shakhtar Donetsk, but they have a lot of quality especially up front.

“We will have to face them as we did in the Europa League.”

The 32-year-old Italian defender, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until the end of the season, made his fourth appearance of this campaign under coach Antonio Conte, with his total minutes now being 281.

In that time, he has scored one goal and helped the side keep one clean sheet.

The player regularly featured under the 51-year-old Italian coach last season, making 32 appearances across all competitions. He scored five goals in that time.

Inter’s win against the Rossoblu today means they currently sit on ten points, putting them third in the table.

The Nerazzurri are still two points behind rivals AC Milan, who face Roma on Monday and could extend their lead over their rivals to five points.
