Inter spoke with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter after the Nerazzurri’s 2-2 draw with the German side in the Champions League earlier this week, according to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri expressed their interest and appreciation in the 26-year-old German centre back, who is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2022.

The player discussed Inter’s interest after the game, noting that he did not want to leave Borussia Monchengladbach “last summer”, implying that the situation may change next summer.

Negotiations for a contract renewal are still ongoing and currently he does not intend to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

The club’s sporting director Max Eberl has already said that they will be forced to sell Ginter next summer in order to avoid losing him leaving on a free transfer.

The player has played every available minute for Monchengladbach this season.
