Inter striker Andrea Pinamonti discussed his return to Liguria after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Genoa in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.
“It was a beautiful emotion to enter the stadium. But especially for my season debut. I worked to be ready, I’m happy. As the coach always says, words are worth little, facts matter.
“You have to try at all costs to win, they fight every game especially against the big teams. The three points have arrived, we are all happy.”
The 21-year-old Italian forward, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, then commented on how helpful it is to train with top players.
“When you train with certain players you can only learn. I am lucky to be here with them, they are good guys as well as players. All of them especially the forwards give me a lot of advice.
“Lukaku also gave me a lot of advice when I joined.”
Finally, Pinamonti spoke about the role given to him by coach Antonio Conte.
“Conte told me to protect the ball and attack deep because we had to close the game out. We try so much during the week that we already know what to do.
“It’s the strength of our coach. Putting us in the best possible condition.”
Today’s 2-0 win over the Rossoblu was Pinamonti’s first appearance of the season under Conte, since returning from Genoa in the summer transfer window.
The player made 34 appearances across all competitions last season for the Ligurian side, for a total of 2418 minutes. In that time, he scored seven goals and provided three assists.
Inter’s win means that they are now third in the league table after five games, sitting two points behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan.
The Rossoneri can extend their lead over the Nerazzurri to five point should they beat Roma on Monday night.
