Inter wing back Matteo Darmian discussed the upcoming match against Genoa, his debut and the Champions League draw with Borussia Monchengladbach in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

“I’m happy about my debut with the Nerazzurri, especially in Europe. I try to make myself available to the team, we all want to grow and improve together.”

The 30-year-old Italian then spoke about the Milanese club’s opponents today, Genoa.

“Genoa are a tough team and difficult to beat, we know their value and their potential. We will have to do everything to bring home a win that would be fundamental.

“What I try to do every day is to improve and make myself available to the team, giving my best to win again.”

Darmian touched on Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

“Unfortunately, on Wednesday we were not able to collect the three points, we hope they can arrive tonight.”

Finally, the former Manchester United player also touched on the mindset the team will need after a recent patch of poor form when speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia just before the game.

“It will certainly be a difficult match against a tough opponent, we will have to put the right determination on the field. It is clear that we also have the qualities to achieve the win.

“We can improve, but today it is important to win after the derby and the Champions League.”

The 30-year-old Italian, who is on a loan deal with a buy option attached from Parma, made 34 appearances across all competitions last season for the Emilian club, for a total of 2685 minutes.

In that time, he scored one goal and provided one assist, with his tactical flexibility coming in handy for the club.

Inter are looking to bounce back with a win against the Rossoblu today, after a disappointing draw with their German opposition in Europe earlier this week.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, before they face Parma next weekend.
