Italian football journalist Matteo Marani has shared his belief that Inter are lacking the spirit of manager Antonio Conte and this is one of the reasons behind their recent struggles on the field.

Inter have failed to win any of their last three matches across all competitions and have conceded an average of two goals per game across their opening five games across all competitions this term.

“Inter’s difficulty is upstream, they lack the spirit of Antonio Conte,” Marani explained in a recent interview, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“I think, and maybe I’m wrong, that at a certain point Conte thought that more should have been produced, but they are not the characteristics of his teams. The main characteristic of his teams is their great defensive stability.”

Marani then went on to share his belief that despite their lack of balance and recent struggles, that they remain a team capable of going all the way and winning the Serie A for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

“In this new Inter, the balance has been lost, but in perspective they remains the one that can win the league but they need ferocity.”

Inter are currently sitting in sixth place in the Serie A table with seven points to their name from their opening four league fixtures. The Nerazzurri are next in action later on today away to Genoa.
