Italian journalist Paolo Condò discussed Inter’s start to the season and coach Antonio Conte when speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.
“Conte has taken Liverpool’s example, who took four years to win and convince, in my opinion he has taken the fact that the English club are the most famous for their game and the project that followed.
“In any case, the coach can certainly not expect four years of patience from clubs and fans to build something solid and concrete and start winning, he arrived in Milan with the aim of making the Nerazzurri return to the top right from the start.”
The Italian journalist then touched on how the Covid-19 pandemic has heavily affected the Nerazzurri’s season so far.
“In this period Inter found themselves at the center of a whirlwind of unfavorable events, above all Covid, apart from Genoa who so far have been the most affected team.
“For example, with even Hakimi’s false positive test that kept him away from the Champions League match, an absence that was clearly visible.”
He highlighted that he was not a fan of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez and criticised the 31-year-old’s finishing.
“I’m not a Sanchez fan to tell you the truth, for me he was a purchase that was praised all too much, like an out of this world signing.
“He is a striker who has lost his eye for goal for too long now, to the point that he can’t be the third striker for Inter.”
Finally, Condò spoke about much criticised Serbian veteran Aleksandar Kolarov, who heavily disappointed playing in the back three against AC Milan last weekend.
“He is useful in the buildup play, but his defensive gaps so far are evident.”
Inter’s initial strong start to the season has clearly slowed, after a few disappointing performances in a row.
The Nerazzurri won their first two games, beating Fiorentina and Benevento, but stumbled against a gritty Lazio side and dropped two points.
After the international break, Inter then disappointingly lost to AC Milan in the Milanese derby, before dropping points to Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening game of the Champions League group stage.
