A report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com earlier today has analysed why Inter’s talks with Tottenham regarding Tanguy Ndombele collapsed.

The report details how the Nerazzurri worked hard to try and sign the player, despite Spurs’ request of €60 million, the same price paid to Lyon a year prior.

The deal also included Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar, but talks slowed after coach Antonio Conte asked specifically for Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal, his real priority.

The 51-year-old Italian did not want to give the green light for a significant investment on a player that he did not desperately want. Tottenham’s refusal to lower their valuation of Ndombele also stopped any detailed talks.

The 23-year-old Frenchman, who is contracted to Spurs until 2025, has managed to win over coach Jose Mourinho, becoming a core part of the project again.

The player has made eight appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring two goals in that time.
