Nicolas Burdisso: “Inter Have Improved This Year By Bringing In Players Like Hakimi & Vidal”

Former Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso discussed the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Genoa, his thoughts on coach Antonio Conte and the team’s goals in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV earlier today.

First, he commented on which team he supported in the game. He spent five years at Inter and three at Genoa.

“Today I cheered for Inter. I have just returned from Italy, I have also been to San Siro, always beautiful memories with Inter.”

The Argentinian touched on his impressions of coach Antonio Conte and the current Nerazzurri squad.

“I cannot be objective because I have great esteem for Conte and my former team. But I think they have improved since last year, with players like Hakimi or Vidal’s personality.

“The team has had a year of work with Conte and we all know how much he cares about his work.

“This year maybe they are more obligated to play this season even more seriously, but beyond everything else I think they’re on the right track, they must continue and be consistent, that is very important in football.”

The former Nerazzurri defender spoke about the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Italy are currently experiencing the second wave of the contagion.

“In my opinion, this Coronavirus has shocked everything and everyone, I was watching Atalanta today, who disappointed after a great match in the Champions League, the same for Inter.”

Finally, Burdisso spoke about where this current Inter squad can look to end up.

“They must arrive in March with the chance to win what they’re fighting for and in my opinion Inter have built a squad to be able to do it.”

Inter’s important 2-0 win over Genoa means that they are now third in the league table after five games, sitting on 10 points. Two points ahead of them, in first place, is rivals AC Milan, who can extend their lead with a win over Roma on Monday.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday.
