Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is the clear beacon of the Nerazzurri attack so far this season, but more work is needed by Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.
The report details how the 27-year-old Belgian striker has scored 41 goals in 57 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all competitions, boasting an average of 0.72 goals per game.
This stat is currently higher than many former Inter stars, like Ronaldo, Christian Vieri, Mauro Icardi, Samuel Eto’o, Adriano and even Diego Milito.
Coach Antonio Conte needs to rely on other forwards apart from Lukaku, the report continues, and his main striking partner in particular needs to pull his weight more.
Lautaro Martinez failed to score in a third consecutive game in yesterday’s 2-0 win over Genoa, and was clearly frustrated after being substituted off in the second half, hitting the bench three times.
The coach still trusts in the 23-year-old Argentine striker, who will likely feature against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
