Genoa are preparing a contract renewal for highly rated youngster Nicolo Rovella according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The highly rated young midfielder’s contract with the club is up at the end of the current season and absolutely nobody at the Rossoblu club wants to see Rovella leave for nothing.

They are working on giving him a new contract that will come with a substantial salary increase amid interest from Inter, who were once again able to admire the teenager up close this past weekend.

Inter manager Antonio Conte has liked Rovella for several years and even tried to sign him when he was in charge of Premier League club Chelsea.

Against Inter on Saturday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Rovella proved his technical quality and character shown in recent years.

This season the 18-year-old has made two appearances across all competitions to date but he has not scored any goals or provided any assists in his time on the park.
