Legendary Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has sang the praises of Inter’s deadly strike force of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Last season the Belgian and Argentine combined for 55 goals between them (Lukaku 34, Lautaro 21) and this season the duo have 10 goals between them after Inter’s first six matches across all competitions to date.

“Lukaku is the top player in the team, whilst Lautaro is a very imaginative player and beating his man creates numerical superiority.

“They are one of the best partnerships nationally and internationally,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva, earlier on today.

Against Genoa this past weekend, Lautaro showed visible signs of nervousness and anger and Ferri, who spent almost his entire career with Inter, proceeded to discuss why this may have been the case for the highly rated 23-year-old.

“The Argentine’s nervousness? Maybe he was unable to take advantage of some chances he had and when he was substituted he had this reaction.”

He concluded the interview by singing the praises of Inter central midfielder Nicolo Barella: “Everyone has their own identity. Remember Antonio Conte who looks at the case and wanted him to build his team.”

Ferri spent 13 of his 15 year senior career playing for Inter between 1981 and 1994. The former Italian national team player made no less than 418 appearances for Inter during his spell with the club, in which he scored nine goals and tallied one assist.
