Italian journalist Matteo Marani discussed Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and his consistent performances in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia yesterday.
“Lukaku has always gone on the pitch. The thing that has always impressed me about him last year is that he has been consistent throughout the season. Even now he is doing the same.”
He then highlighted how the Milanese club may be missing goals from midfielders, which could make their system even more dangerous.
“Maybe Inter are missing a few goals from the midfielders, who can do more than they have done so far. Inter last year scored 17 goals less than Atalanta and that’s a lot in my opinion, this explains what they missed.”
The 27-year-old Lukaku, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, is clearly the star of coach Antonio Conte’s squad, being both a leader and a consistent goal scorer.
The former Manchester United forward has scored seven goals so far this season in his first six games across all competitions, only failing to find the back of the net against Lazio before the international break.
Lukaku shone under Conte in his debut season in Italy, scoring 34 goals and providing six assists in 51 appearances.
Inter are now third in the league table after five games, sitting two points behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan, who can extend their lead at the top of the table with a win over Roma tonight.
