Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has shades of several former Inter players about him according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The highly rated 23-year-old has massively impressed in his time with the club since his arrival in the Summer of 2019 and this report believes he has similarities to many former Inter midfielders.
One of these players is Marco Tardelli, who Gazzetta dello Sport believe Barella shares a similar personality with in terms of being able to carry his teammates with his behaviour.
He is also similar to Salvatore Bagni in terms of how he recovers the ball, annoys his opponents and acts as a relief for his teammates. Like Nicola Berti, Barella is capable of going box to box with the ball.
The report goes on to explain that he also has similarities with two people he spends nearly every day with, teammate Radja Nainggolan and manager Antonio Conte.
Like Nainggolan, Barella started out as a central midfielder but is now transforming into an attacking midfielder whilst he is following a similar career path to Conte in that he left a provincial club for one of the biggest clubs in Italy. In Conte’s case, he left Lecce for Juventus, where he became captain.
The report also claims that there is a similarity between Barella and former Juventus and Italian national team midfielder Claudio Marchisio in terms of his finishing.
