Former Italian national team goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani has shared his belief that there is a real feeling of Inter being a team and aware that games are won over the course of 90 minutes off the back of Antonio Conte’s side’s 2-0 win over Genoa this past weekend.

“At Inter there is the feeling of having a team, if not stronger than the others, at least at the level of the best. The team has also understood that matches are won in 90 minutes,” he explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, during yesterday’s ‘Sky Calcio Club’ show.

Marchegiani proceeded to speak on Christian Eriksen and admitted that if he had to choose, he would choose to play Nicolo Barella over him.

Marchegiani, who played for Lazio, Torino, Chievo Verona and Brescia during his playing career, said: “He is no better than Barella.

“If he isn’t playing because he doesn’t feel confident, I don’t know, but right now, if I have to choose between him and Barella, the latter performs better.”

Eriksen has struggled greatly since his arrival at Inter in the most recent January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur and in the early weeks of this season Barella has even been utilised in Eriksen’s attacking midfield role, despite the fact he arrived at Inter as a central midfielder.
