Inter and AC Milan are the favourites to sign Luka Modric on a free transfer according to a report from Spanish news outlet Defensa Central.

The Croatian national team central midfielder’s contract with current employers Real Madrid is due to expire at the end of this season and whilst Modric would like to continue in Madrid, Los Blancos are yet to make a decision on his future with them.

Inter, who tried to sign him a few years ago when he was deemed non-transferable, are the main favourites to land the one time Balon d’Or winner if Modric does not come to an agreement with Real Madrid over a new deal.

Modric is said to be more interested by the project of Inter’s Antonio Conte but ultimately does not wish to think too much about it as he is confident that he will sign a contract extension with the reigning Spanish champions.

The report explains that both Inter and AC Milan have been in contact with Modric’s agent and Inter have told him that they are prepared to wait however long it takes.
