Inter are to give central defender Stefan de Vrij a suitable salary increase as part of a new deal according to a report from Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Inter met with the Dutch national team player’s agent Mino Raiola earlier on today to hold talks over a new deal for the former Lazio defender, who is currently under contract with the club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

de Vrij currently earns €3.8 million net a year and given his performances have been increasingly convincing, Inter will reward him with a suitable increase to his salary.

The former Feyenoord player is into his third year with the club following his arrival on a free transfer in the Summer of 2018.

Last season he was named the best defender in Serie A by the league and he has scored six goals and provided as many assists for his teammates in 87 appearances for the club.
