Napoli could ask Nikola Maksimovic’s agent to find him a new club in January if an agreement cannot be reached over a new deal according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Serbian central defender’s deal is due to expire at the end of this season and there is some distance in talks between the parties.

Maksimovic currently earns €1.2 million and the report explains that his agent Fali Ramadani would like for him to be given a new deal worth €2.5-3 million whilst Napoli are currently unprepared to go beyond €2 million a year.

If a deal is not reached, Ramadani could be asked to find his client a new club in order to allow Napoli to avoid losing him for nothing in the Summer.

Inter have already shown an interest in signing him and Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta could give Inter manager Antonio Conte a new defender after Diego Godin’s departure in the Summer.

AC Milan could also potentially move for him whilst it cannot be ruled out that he may end up just seeing out the remainder of his contract with Napoli.
