There is no guarantee that Inter will be able to call upon Romelu Lukaku in next Tuesday’s Champions League group stage match away to Real Madrid according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter confirmed yesterday that Lukaku has suffered a muscle strain in his thigh following the match against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier on this week and this report states that he immediately began the recovery process by carrying out the necessary physiotherapy.

The Belgian national team forward, who is Inter’s current top goal scorer this term, is certain to miss tomorrow’s match at home to Parma but the hope of the club is that he will be able to join the club in travelling to Madrid for Tuesday’s match on Monday.

There is no certainty that he will be back and it will all ultimately depend on how Lukaku responds to the physiotherapy but it must be kept in mind that given his strong physique, he needs to be handled with that bit more care to avoid the current injury becoming something more serious.

Should he also miss the Real Madrid match, an attempt will be made to recover him for the match with Atalanta a few days later.
