Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-2 draw against Parma earlier tonight in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia immediately after the game.

“It’s not the first game we dominated and yet we risked losing it. If you don’t score goals in football, you don’t win.

“Yet again, we missed a lot of chances, we made a lot of mistakes, and that’s not good. We need determination and precision. That’s what Parma did, as they scored twice with two chances.”

He commented on how the team need to work on taking advantage of the chances that they create.

“Seeing as it’s not the first time this has happened, we need to look at ourselves and increase that determination to make the most of our chances, otherwise we pay the price and today we are dealing with the consequences of those errors.”

The former Juventus and Chelsea coach touched on how the squad’s finishing was the biggest issue in the game.

“We created the opportunities, but the finishing was the issue. It’s not just about the strikers, but also the wing-backs, the midfielders, the defenders.

“Attacking involves a lot of men, but for the umpteenth time, we weren’t precise or determined enough when we got into those scoring positions.

“It’s disappointing, as I couldn’t ask for more in terms of effort, but we need to do much better. Parma were perfect in their finishing, they had two chances and converted 100% of them.”

Conte spoke about how both the offensive and defensive departments lost concentration throughout the game.

“Whoever loses the ball has to react immediately and try to get it back. We didn’t react, we just stood there complaining. The defensive area can do better, as it was wide open.

“Let’s not change what I said, though, because I said that we had to be more determined in finishing. I never said anyone was sluggish, don’t put words in my mouth.”

The former Italy boss spoke about how the team still manage to drop points in games that they dominate.

“If you don’t score goals, you don’t win. All too often recently, teams have a much higher goal percentage than we do. It happened against Borussia Monchengladbach too, Shakhtar Donetsk never had a shot on goal, but we still don’t win games that we dominate.”

The 51-year-old Italian touched on how it makes no difference whether Inter play home or away, considering the lack of fans.

“It makes no difference this season, when there are no fans, so home and away is irrelevant. Parma changed their tactical system to limit us today, just as Shakhtar Donetsk did.

“It means opponents really respect us and therefore play very defensive against Inter, which makes it difficult.”

Finally, Conte refused to talk about the contentious referring decisions in the game.

“No absolutely not. If the club has said something it is right that the executives do it. I do the analysis of the game.”

Inter’s draw against Parma means that they are still fifth in the league table after six games. Their next game is against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League next week.
