Inter defender Milan Skriniar has recovered from Covid-19 after testing negative for the contagion yesterday, according to a report from Italian journalist Matteo Barzaghi on Twitter.

The report details how the 25-year-old Slovakian defender, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, will begin the process that should see him available for the Milanese club’s upcoming Champions League clash against Real Madrid next week.

Skriniar missed four games due to the virus and is one of the last Inter players to return after contracting the contagion earlier this month.

The 25-year-old made 42 appearances across all competitions last season under coach Antonio Conte, for a total of 3399 minutes. In that time, he provided two assists and helped the side keep 12 clean sheets.

The player was close to moving to Premier League side Tottenham in the summer transfer window, with Conte not impressed with the Slovakian’s adaptation to his tactical system, but a deal never materialised.

Barzaghi explained the situation on Twitter, saying: “Skriniar has tested negative from the test taken yesterday. Now he will be able to complete the eligibility process and try to return available for the Madrid away game. Welcome back Milan.”
