Inter manager Antonio Conte has insisted that his team will have to suffer in tomorrow night’s Champions League match against Real Madrid but believes that if they do it well, they can get something from the match.

“Sanchez is back in training today with the team,” he began his pre-match press conference ahead of the match at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

In recent matches Inter have had problems in front of goal and the 51-year-old was then quizzed on how these problems can be solved.

“That is a difficult question, you have to keep working in training, you have to continue to create situations, produce lots of shots, and do better in the box.

“I talked about malice, but it is not only valid for the forwards but for everyone. Last year we scored many goals, 113, and we started this season too by scoring many goals.

“However, the proportion between what we create and what we collect is unbalanced. We score many goals but we could have even more.”

Conte was then asked whether this match against Los Blancos is a decisive one for both sides when it comes to their chances of making it into the next round of the competition.

“In every game you have to try to score points. You don’t always manage to score three points, because of your opponent’s skill or you have matches like those against Shakhtar and Borussia in which you deserved more and you came out with a draw.

“Real Madrid are a strong team, built to win this competition. They have players who have won this cup several times, we know we face a team that comes from a strange defeat with Shakhtar and a comeback against Borussia.

“We will have to suffer but if we are good at suffering we will be able to take away some satisfaction. We come here with the intention of proposing our game.

“We will not put ourselves in a corner like a boxer who defends himself looking for a single shot for the KO. We face the game without awe of anyone and wish to propose our qualities.”

The former Juventus and Italian national team boss was then asked if he would like to manage Real Madrid some time in the future.

“Right now I am very focused on Inter, I started a project here with a very strong ownership and I am happy.

“We are creating something important. In the past, it is true, there was the opportunity to become the manager of Real Madrid, but perhaps the time was not ripe. I want to continue the project here at Inter.”

Next he was asked about the times where he was close to becoming the manager of Real Madrid.

“In the past there had been a couple of moments in which I was very close to coaching Real Madrid. The season had already begun, it would have been difficult to take over, there had already been programming by the club and in a very sincere way I preferred to postpone.”

In conclusion he was asked about his relationship with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who he was teammates with at Juventus during the 1990s.

“I have an exceptional memory of him. From a footballing point of view, everyone knows his talents but Zizou is an exceptional guy, I have a very nice memory of him.

“The talented footballer sometimes tries to avoid fatigue yet instead he was always in the front row, demonstrating that if you add work to talent you can get to where he did.

“I understood that he wanted to be a coach when I had dinner with him in Turin, when I was Juventus coach. He asked questions and I understood where he wanted to go.”
