Legendary Inter striker Diego Milito has sang the praises of former teammate and current Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and has shared his belief that he will only continue to get better as a player.

“We talk every now and then. He’s a guy who listens a lot, with a great mentality. I appreciate him,” Milito explained in an interview with Argentine news outlet Olé.

“He’s having a great career in a great club. He is a guy who has things to improve. He is young and part of an elite club. He is a forward who will continue to grow.”

The Inter treble winning hero, who played alongside Lautaro at Racing Club, then spoke on Lautaro’s Argentine national team prospects.

“We are happy that he left Racing and plays for our national team. He will undoubtedly be in the national team for a long time. He is the present and the future and he also has a great bond with Lionel Messi and the others.”

Lautaro is in his third year with Inter following his arrival in the Summer of 2018 in a circa €20 million deal. In the time since, the highly rated 23-year-old has went on to make 92 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 33 goals and provided nine assists.

This season Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made eight appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
