Standard Liege have confirmed that club captain Zinho Vanheusden has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament via an official statement posted on their official club website.

In yesterday’s Belgian Pro League match at home to K.V Oostende, the highly rated young central defender fell awkwardly on his leg and had to be stretchered off of the field of play at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

Vanheusden’s condition was examined this morning and Standard Liege have confirmed the unfortunate news that he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

The player will undergo surgery as soon as possible and the club have estimated that he will be sidelined for around about six months.

Belgian national team player Vanheusden is a product of Inter’s youth academy and is a player who the Nerazzurri have a buy back option on which expires in the Summer of 2021. This season he has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date.
