Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has admitted that the presence of COVID-19 complicates things for clubs as far as preparing for away matches and the trips required to get to them.

Due to the global pandemic, travel all over the globe has been impacted and this has impacted football clubs when it comes to getting to and from away matches, especially in European competition, which requires clubs to travel to different countries.

This season Inter have had to make trips to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and most recently the Spanish capital of Madrid and will have at least one more foreign trip this term with them still due to play Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany in the Champions League group stage in the coming weeks.

“We are suffering from a situation of great emergency that exists also in civil society, we have this enemy which is Covid and it becomes difficult to prepare for away matches and trips,” Marotta, who has held his position at Inter for just about two years now, explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was broadcast a short time ago.

He added: “I say that we need calm, in the league and in the Champions League we must wait.”
