Inter goalkeeper and club captain Samir Handanovic has shared his belief that Inter need to become more malicious if they wish to win games following on from the Champions League group stage defeat to Real Madrid.

Inter fell 2-0 behind to the hosts at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium in the Spanish capital but managed to pull it back to 2-2 and looked like they would get at least a point from the game but it wasn’t to be as Rodrygo came off the bench and scored a late winner for Los Blancos.

“There is bitterness and anger, we played an excellent match but mistakes were made. We did not take advantage of what we created when it was 2-2,” Handanovic explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset following the full time whistle.

The veteran Slovenian shot-stopper went on to add: “On the pitch we felt like we would win, but they scored on their only chance.

“This is a team that can do well but we are too sorry, we have to find competitive malice in order to score points.

“We do not exploit what we create and we are conceding from the opportunities that others create, for now that’s the way it is.”

After the loss to Real Madrid, Inter are now rooted to the bottom of group B with three games played and three games still to go. Inter have two points from their opening three games and could still go through seeing as they are just two points off of second placed Shakhtar Donetsk and three off of group leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.
