Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has insisted that he and his teammates did everything that they could to try and win the match against Real Madrid.

Lautaro scored Inter’s first goal, a goal which ended a five game streak without a goal for him, but Inter were unable to get anything from this match as they conceded late on to lose 3-2 to the reigning Spanish champions.

“It is too bad because we did everything to win it, we let them play calmly,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the end of the match at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium in Madrid.

“We are angry because it was a game we wanted to win, we created a lot and we could have done it. We have to raise our heads, work and keep looking forward.”

The highly rated 23-year-old was then asked what Inter are missing in order to be able to win games like this one and others similar to it.

“I said it before and I will say it now, we do everything to win but we make mistakes and in the end we don’t score. We have to work and be more careful, we have to go on with our heads down and work.”

In conclusion Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, was asked about the recent media chatter surrounding a contract renewal for him at Inter and whether there has been too much talk.

“This can only be said by you, I work for Inter and for my teammates. In football it is always like this, when you score goals you are a phenomenon, when you do not score them you are poor, sometimes I manage to score goals sometimes I don’t.

“I am sure that I do everything to show that I am at the level of Inter and this football. I am always calm, working quietly and with humility.”
