Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has stressed that he and his teammates need to get back to work after their Champions League group stage defeat away to Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.

The highly rated 23-year-old scored the first of Inter’s two goals at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, where Inter looked set to get at least a draw but Real Madrid’s Rodrygo scored late on to hand the hosts a hugely important three points.

“The attacker must always score and work for the team, I always try to give my best for Inter,” Lautaro explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which took place following the full time whistle in the Spanish capital.

He went on to add: “We have to work with our heads down, no words. We have to do the best for Inter without thinking about anything else.

“Now let’s think about Serie A, we have a difficult game ahead of us. Then after the international break we have important goals, we must try to give more.”

Lautaro is in to his third year playing for the Nerazzurri club following a 2018 move from Racing Club. This season the Argentine national team player, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, has made nine appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
