Italian Media Recall Fact That Inter Won UCL After Being Bottom Of Group After 3 Games

The last time Inter were bottom of their Champions League group after three games, they went on to win the competition according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was broadcast a short time ago.

Inter have started this year’s edition of the group stage in less than spectacular fashion and have just two points from their opening three games.

The last time Inter were bottom of their group after three games was back in the 2009/10 season. On that occasion, Inter managed to finish second in the group and went all the way and won it as part of their historic treble win that season.

The report goes on to state that since 2003/04, just 11.7% of teams have reached the last 16 of the competition after picking up just two points from their opening three games. Celta Vigo managed it in 2003/04 and Stuttgart managed it in 2009/10.

Of the other seven others who started in this manner managed to reach third place and qualify for the Europa League whilst the other eight crashed out at the group stage.
