Legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello has shared his belief that Achraf Hakimi’s mistake in Inter’s loss to Real Madrid was one of the worst mistakes made in the latest round of Champions League action.

Hakimi was at fault for Real Madrid’s opening goal at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium as he failed to get enough on a back pass to goalkeeper and club captain Samir Handanovic. His poor back pass, which was made when under pressure from Ferland Mendy, was capitalised upon by Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema.

Inter lost the game 3-2 in the end, a result which put them bottom of their Champions League group at the half way point of the competition.

“Hakimi’s mistake was among the worst. He is recovering the ball when they are looking to recover the ball deeply. Now many mistakes are made that were not committed before and the attackers are now paying a lot of attention and waiting for them to fall and then score,” Capello explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, earlier on today.

Hakimi joined Inter in a €45 million, including add-ons, deal from Real Madrid during the most recent Summer transfer window. He has one goal and two assists in eight appearances for the club.
