Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will do everything possible to be able to make a return to action in this weekend’s Serie A match away to Atalanta according to reports in the print editions of both Gazzetta dello Sport and Coriere dello Sport today.

The Belgian national team forward will train today whilst the rest of his Inter teammates enjoy a day off from training and tomorrow will be the most important day for him in terms of an evaluation of where he is at in his recovery from a muscle injury.

If he works alongside his teammates on Saturday, he will be available for Sunday’s match in Bergamo.

There is cautious optimism that he can return, even if it means him returning would almost certainly mean a call-up to the Belgian national team, which is something Inter would have liked to avoid to allow him to completelty recover rather than play three games in quick succession.

This season the 27-year-old, who joined Inter in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Manchester United, has made seven appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored seven goals.
