Legendary Inter central defender Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that the ‘real’ Arturo Vidal could be seen in the coming weeks.

Vidal arrived at Inter in the most recent Summer transfer window but he has been utilised in a different role on the field to the one in which he made his name for himself as a player and as a result he has come in for some criticism for his performances.

“When Vidal went to Inter, I always thought that he could be an important player from the midfield up, instead he is used in front of the defence and always remains as one of the two tactical midfielders,” Bergomi, who spent the entirety of his playing career on Inter’s books, explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, earlier on today.

The former Inter captain went on to add: “He doesn’t have the great quality to build-up play and he lost the ball a lot against Real Madrid. Age passes for everyone and if you play there you have to be a box to box player but that work is done by Barella. In about 20 days maybe we will see the real Vidal.”

Since joining Inter from Barcelona, the vastly experienced Chilean national team player has made nine appearances across all competitions to date for the club but in his time on the field he has failed to make any goal contributions thus far.
