Former Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte is not the same this season compared to how he was during last season.

In his first season in charge of Inter last season, Conte was very outspoken and had several outbursts directed at the club which cast a real shadow over his future at the helm.

This season Conte has appeared a lot calmer both on the touchline and when addressing the media and Zanetti has stressed that Inter have problems at the moment that need sorted out sooner rather than later.

“For me something happened at the end of last season, a tear between the coach and the owners. I’m not seeing Conte with the same malice that has always distinguished him, wherever he has been,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet Tuttojuve.com.

The former Italian national team player went on to add: “He is a great coach, but the perception that one has seeing matches like the one against Real Madrid is that there are problems, which for the good of the team must be solved sooner than later because in terms of the squad, Inter are on par with Juve. Two years ago they weren’t nor last year but this year yes.”

Zanetti had two spells with Inter, during which he made 146 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored three goals and tallied four assists. Zanetti also won four trophies whilst at Inter, including one Serie A title.
