Former Inter defender Zinho Vanheusden has underwent successful surgery after picking up an injury in Standard Liege’s match at the weekend according to a report from Belgian news outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

The highly rated young defender, who is captain of the Belgian Pro League club, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during their 1-0 win over K.V Oostende.

Dr. Koen Lagae handled the operation and successfully reconstructed Vanheusden’s anterior cruciate ligament and the player will now begin the rehabilitation process, which will keep him out on the sidelines for at least the next six months.

Vanheusden is a product of Inter’s youth academy and was sold to Standard Liege in the Summer of 2019. As part of that deal, Inter obtained a buy back option on him, an option they have until the end of this season to activate.

This season Vanheusden has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date, but did not make any goal contributions when on the field.

The player also took to his Instagram story to confirm the success of the operation with him posting an image of himself post surgery plus, “Everything went perfectly thanks to the best Koen Lagae.”
