Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti has analysed the different approaches that Inter manager Antonio Conte and Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini are dealing with their respective sides recent woes.

The two sides will face off against one another on Sunday and both are coming into the match, that will be played at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, off the back of defeats in the Champions League in the middle of the week.

Inter lost 3-2 away to reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid whilst reigning Premier League champions Liverpool beat Atalanta 3-0.

Neither Inter nor Atalanta are currently sitting in a position in their respective groups in the Champions League that will allow them to progress to the next round but there are still three games to be played meaning that could all change.

“It is always the Champions League that turns the cards. To tell the truth, this time it will be difficult also because on Tuesday the Nerazzurri had to make half an impact. Curiously they will find themselves facing each other at the weekend,” Marchetti began his latest editorial piece for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

Marchetti then went on to discuss how Conte and Gasperini have handled things.

“Gasperini and Conte are certainly dissatisfied with the results but if on the one hand Conte praises the spirit and underlines how his players have the right attitude but are not lucky to bring home the result, Gasperini has focused on running, we are no longer running as before, he said at the end of the game.”

Marchetti then went on to discuss the worries that Inter fans have.

“What worries the Inter fans more than those of Atalanta, however, is the lack of balance and continuity. We have often said in recent weeks that the season is anomalous.

“For Inter, all the more so since they did not actually go on vacation as they had to play the Europa League final, they play every three days, Conte has changed the attitude of the team, maybe there hasn’t been time yet for the newcomers to understand the game plan.

“The attackers not very lucid and defenders not very careful. Everything has to turn around for the better and the change must happen quickly, as time is beginning to run out.

“Now Inter must look within and must understand how to solve their amnesia. Otherwise, even in a difficult season for everyone, this too risks becoming an impossible mission.

“Trying and solving problems does not mean winning immediately or winning at all costs, but finding continuity. To get to work overtime, as AC Milan are doing.”
