It will be very tough for Inter striker Romelu Lukaku to recover in time for this weekend’s match versus Atalanta according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was broadcast a short time ago.

The 27-year-old forward picked up a muscle injury in Inter’s recent Champions League group stage encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk and missed Inter’s past two matches with Parma and Real Madrid as a result of his injury.

He is following a personalised training schedule at the moment and even trained yesterday whilst his teammates enjoyed a day off but the report from Sky Sport Italia states it will be very difficult for him to make it onto the pitch in Bergamo, at least from the first whistle.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Lukaku’s presence, Inter manager Antonio Conte is currently mulling over who to start alongside Lautaro Martinez. Alexis Sanchez could come in in place of Ivan Perisic, who could return to left wing-back at the expense of Ashley Young.
