Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to gathered reporters at a press conference earlier today, ahead of the Bergamo based club’s league clash against Inter tomorrow. His words were noted by Italian media outlet Tuttoatalanta.com, as reported by FcInterNews.

“There will be no changes, but they are adjustments to the situation. We are conceding too many goals, maybe we need to pay more attention and have more protection.

“It isn’t mean to upset the team, but to take measures that can protect us in this moment, even in an emergency.”

He commented on tomorrow’s opponents, the Nerazzurri.

“For me Inter are an excellent team, regardless of everything. There are ups and downs, but they remain a great team.”

The Italian coach touched on the condition of the squad ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“We’ll see who plays, we still have some absences. Palomino will be missing as well as Gosens and De Roon, there could be room if not from the beginning of the current match for less used players.”

Gasperini commented on the team’s reaction to the painful 5-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League earlier this week.

“We live in the present, we must also look ahead. The present is that we are in a good position in the table, the Champions League is still to play. These are the topics to face.”

He spoke about the condition of Russian forward Aleksei Miranchuk.

“Miranchuk is well, he has healed, it is clear that the emergency is in midfield and on the wings. That department is not the priority right now.”

The former Juventus Primavera coach touched on his time with Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte during their time together in Turin.

“He came a few times to the Primavera squad, but he has always been a great professional and a point of reference for the guys too.

“He played with the same enthusiasm, he was a reference point for everyone, it has always been a pleasure to deal with him.”

Finally, Gasperini discussed what kind of game it will be tomorrow.

“It’ll be a difficult game, but it also comes at the right time. Then the international break will close this period, it’s a game that in this moment can reveal what state we are in.”

The Bergamo based club are currently fourth in the Serie A table, one point ahead of sixth place Inter. High scoring wins over Lazio, Torino and Cagliari have impressed, but losses to Napoli and Sampdoria have taken a little wind from their sails.
