Inter Announce Ionut Radu & Roberto Gagliardini Must Repeat COVID-19 Test Before Atalanta Clash

Inter’s Roberto Gagliardini and Ionut Radu must repeat a Covid-19 test, after their previous one gave inconclusive results, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today.

The report details how the announcement was made by Inter press office manager Luigi Crippa, ahead of coach Antonio Conte’s pre-match press conference today.

The 26-year-old Italian midfielder and 23-year-old Romanian shot stopper both previously tested positive for the virus, forcing them to miss four games last month.

Gagliardini had returned to the pitch, facing Parma in the 2-2 draw last weekend, playing 59 minutes. Radu was on the bench for that game, highlighting how both players had previously tested negative after initially contracting the virus.

The topic of Covid-19 testing has dominated the Italian press over recent weeks, with the differences between Serie A’s testing parameters and UEFA’s proving widely inconsistent.

Inter were a victim of this difference last month, when Achraf Hakimi was forced to miss the Champions League game against Borussia Monchengladbach due to a false positive test.
