Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni and Andrea Pinamonti have been called up by the Italy Under-21 squad, according to a report from the FIGC earlier today.

The report details how the FIGC have decided to set up a second team for the Under-21 set up. The two teams will be led by coaches Paolo Nicolato and Alberto Bollini and will work in the same period together. The two Inter players have been called up for Squad A.

The players of five clubs, including Inter are currently in isolation due to positive cases of Covid-19 at their respective clubs. The other clubs are Fiorentina, Frosinone, Genoa and Sassuolo. They will join the teams when agreed with the health authorities.

The Italy Under-21 squad will play their last three European Championship qualifiers, against Iceland, Luxembourg and Sweden.

The Azzurrini are currently top of their group with 16 points, having won five of their seven games so far. They are tied on points with Ireland, although have played one game less. A win next week could secure their place in the competition.
