A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has highlighted Inter and Atalanta’s defensive issues this season.

The report details how the Nerazzurri have conceded 84 touches from their opponents in their penalty area so far this season, second in Serie A, whilst Atalanta have conceded 104, putting them at fifth.

Both teams have also conceded a low amount of shots, 50 for Antonio Conte’s Inter putting them in second, whilst Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta have conceded 65, putting them seventh.

Despite this, both teams have had defensive issues this season, with both teams allowing their opponents to score from 20% of shots. This shows that when either team’s defense is opened up, they are usually punished heavily.

Atalanta have conceded 13 goals from the first six games of the season, whilst Inter have conceded 10, despite being one of the best defenses in the league last season. Both teams need to shore up their defenses if they want to fight at the top of the league table this season.
