Inter CEO Beppe Marotta discussed the Covid-19 pandemic, the upcoming international break and how the Local Health Authorities have been inconsistent in an interview with Italian news outlet ANSA moments ago.

“There are strong regrets. I ask for an intervention from the Minister of Sport. This situation is unfair, it leads to an alteration of the regularity of competitions.”

The Inter executive commented on how the Local Health Authority blocked the Roma players from joining their national teams but allowed the Lazio players to leave.

“It’s absurd that the local health authorities behave differently from Rome 1 zone to Rome 2, or from Milan to Florence.

“While there are rigid protocols that we must all rightly respect, there is the grey area in the lack of central management, and every local health authority becomes central in the management of the clubs.”

Finally, Marotta commented on how he previously called for the international break to be called off due to the current situation.

“My alarm from a few days ago become even more important, with my request to reduce the international games.”

The Inter players will be allowed to join their respective national teams, as the relevant Local Health Authority has not blocked the squad, providing that they travel privately to their home nations.

Many Nerazzurri players, including star striker Romelu Lukaku and Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, have been called up for their respective countries, frustrating the Milanese club as they are concerned about the players’ fitness and physical conditions.

Inter’s next game is against Torino on the 22nd November.
