Inter CEO Beppe Marotta discussed the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Atalanta, their current situation and the fact that they’ve struggled to win games despite dominating in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia before the game.

“All matches are important, because they give you points and because you always look for a consistency that, following on from moments such as sudden positive case of Covid-19, is not yet there.

“Today we play against a beautiful reality of our football, to be faced with due respect and with the desire to do well.”

He commented on the team’s tight schedule and the difficulties of playing football amidst a global pandemic.

“We have the obligation to continue in the game, but the climate is surreal and there are objective difficulties.

“They create imbalances, combined with the stress of a busy schedule, if you think that after today’s game 16 players will leave to reach the most varied places. A discomfort that affects us negatively.”

Finally, the Nerazzurri CEO touched on how the Milanese club seem to dominate games but fail to secure the three points, such as in their 2-2 draw against Parma.

“We are at an early point of the season, there are still many points available and let’s wait at least the end of the first half.

“It is true that no one has ever put us in trouble in the game. Today the most negative characteristic is that we concede too many goals and Conte is working on that.

“But I repeat, great patience is needed, later on we can get back on track.”

Inter are currently fourth in Serie A after six games, sitting one point behind fourth place Atalanta. The Milanese club started the season well with wins over Fiorentina and Benevento, but struggled in a 1-1 draw to Lazio and since have only beaten Genoa.

Two draws and a loss in the Champions League means that the Nerazzurri are currently bottom of their group with two points, putting pressure on them in the remaining games.
