Inter wing back Ashley Young discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 1-1 draw against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV after the game.

“It’s never an easy match, especially in a stadium like this. Atalanta are a complicated opponent. We thought we could get the three points, we also took the lead but unfortunately we suffered the equaliser.

“We were not able to finalize the chances we had and they were good at finding their goal. I am sorry since we defended as a team.”

He commented on how scored in Atalanta’s stadium last season and then provided the assist for Lautaro Martinez in this game today, highlighting how this stadium brings out the best in him.

“Yes, I think so, I am happy for the assist, I thought it could bring us the three points but it didn’t.

“Now there is the international break, it could be useful to recover the energy ahead of the rush of matches up to Christmas.”

Finally, Young spoke about how the squad were tired late in the game and how that affected the match.

“I think there was a bit of tiredness actually. It’s something normal with so many matches, but as I said we had our chances, sorry we didn’t collect the three points.”

The 35-year-old Young, who is contracted to the Milanese club until the end of the season, made his seventh appearance of the season under coach Antonio Conte, where he provided his second goal contribution.

The English veteran signed for the Nerazzurri in the January transfer window earlier this year, quickly becoming a regular in the squad.

Last season, he scored four goals and provided five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
