Inter youngster Alessandro Bastoni has been promoted into the senior Italian national team following injuries sustained by players initially called up, the Italian national team have revealed via their official Twitter account.

Following West Ham United’s Angelo Ogbonna and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli’s injuries, Italian national team boss Roberto Mancini has opted to call up three players to replace them.

Bastoni aside, former Inter manager Mancini has also elected to call up Sassuolo’s Gian Marco Ferrari and Mattia Zaccagni of Hellas Verona.

Over the course of this international break, Italy are to play three matches starting with an international friendly match versus Estonia on Wednesday evening.

The Azzurri will then take on Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina in their penultimate and final UEFA Nations League group stage games on November 15 and November 18 respectively.

Bastoni, who has been with Inter since 2017, could well make his first appearance for the Italian national team in one of these games.
