Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini discussed the situation surrounding Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan and a potential January move for the Belgian in an interview with Italian media outlet Videolinea earlier today, as reported by FcInterNews.

“Nainggolan in January? Compared to this summer we know that we are in a new lockdown, that we have closed stadiums, we have not earnt a euro from tickets, these are elements that we did not know months ago.”

The 42-year-old Italian businessman also spoke about former Nerazzurri and new Rossoblu defender Diego Godin.

“Yesterday in defense they played smartly, I saw the whole line do well and when everyone does well great credit goes to Godin’s leadership.

“I’ve also seen Rafa Walukiewicz speak too, something rare until yesterday and now we have to test him against more solid teams ahead.”

The 32-year-old Nainggolan, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, spent last season on loan with the Sardinian side, where he made 29 appearances across all competitions.

In that time, he scored six goals and provided seven assists, being a key part of the squad and quickly earning the captain’s armband.

Inter and Cagliari were in talks regarding Nainggolan for months, but a deal was never finalised, despite negotiations continuing throughout transfer deadline day.

The Belgian midfielder has hardly featured under coach Antonio Conte this season, only making four appearances for a total of 41 minutes.
