Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is part of the initial wave of Italian players heading to the team’s training ground in Coverciano, according to a report from Italian media outlet PassioneInter.com earlier today.
The report details how the 26-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2023, will be amongst the first 18 Italian players to join the Azzurri set up in Coverciano, accepting Roberto Mancini’s call up.
Two other Inter players, Nicolo Barella and Danilo D’Ambrosio, are currently in isolation after being in close contact with backup keeper Daniele Padelli, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
Many in the Italian press have criticised the decision to continue the international games during the current period, with Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta publicly asking for fewer national team commitments, in order to secure the players’ health.
Many Inter first teamers will be joining their respective national teams, including strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
