Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij will start for the Netherlands in their international friendly match versus Spain later on today according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The Netherlands will be without both Virgil van Dijk and Matthijs de Ligt for this match and it is for this reason that Netherlands manager Frank de Boer will not give de Vrij a chance to rest.

The former Lazio player will partner Manchester City’s Nathan Ake at the heart of the Dutch defence and will be one two Serie A representatives in the side with Atalanta’s Hans Hateboer also expected to start.

Tonight’s match with Spain in Amsterdam will allow the Netherlands to warm themselves up ahead of the UEFA Nations League clashes with Bosnia & Herzegovina and Poland on November 15 and 18 respectively.

Probable Netherlands starting line-up (4-3-3): Marco Bizot; Hans Hateboer, Stefan de Vrij, Nathan Aké, Patrick Van Aanholt; Davy Klassen, Frenkie De Jong, Georginio Wijnaldum; Steven Berghuis, Memphis Depay, Ryan Babel.
