Inter continue to want a player capable of being the back-up to Romelu Lukaku according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter want a player capable of fulfilling this role as manager Antonio Conte does not consider fourth choice striker Andrea Pinamonti to be ready.

In the event Inter do go shopping on the transfer market for a back-up Lukaku, they could go back in for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.

The veteran French national team striker finds himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge right now and he is not happy with his current situation. In any case, Giroud would be the vice-Lukaku, unlike Parma’s Gervinho, who has also been linked with a potential move to Inter.

This season Giroud, who has been with Chelsea since January 2018 and is under contact with them until the end of this season, has made just six appearances, in which he has scored one goal.
